Our Philip Treacy hats
Our final art project of the year was to design and construct a hat under a chosen theme. The hats were fantastic, ranging from space to shoes, from football to hurling and Alice in Wonderland.
Turas Scoile
Lá breá gréine atá ann. Tá an turas scoile ar siúl inniu. Tá na páistí agus na múinteoirí bailithe os comhair na scoile.Tá siad ag dul go Dunmore East Adventure Centre don lá. Tá sceitimíní áthais ar na páistí.
Is ionad eachtraíochta é Dunmore East Adventure Centre agus is breá leis na páistí cluichí uisce. Tá mála acu go léir. Istigh sa mhála tá culaith snámha, tuáille, seanbhróga reatha agus lón. Is turas leathuair an chloig é go Dunmore East Adventure Centre. Faoi dheireadh shroicheann siad an áit. Téann na páistí go dtí an wibit, sna bháid bheaga, go dtí an seomra boghdóireachta agus an mballa dreapadóireachta.
Ag deireadh an lae bíonn gach duine tuirseach traochta. Téann siad abhaile ar a ceathair a chlog agus iad go léir ag caint faoin turas scoile is fearr a bhí acu riamh.

Plants experiment
Having grown our runner beans for 2 weeks, we then split them into 5 groups. Group 1 were without light (kept inside a cupboard), Group 2 were without air (plastic bag covering each), Group 3 were without water, Group 4 were without soil (potted in sand) and Group 5 were the control plants. 3 weeks later here's our results: can you guess which is which?
Challenge Science
On May 25th, our class were lucky enough to be picked to go to WIT> Challenge Science is organized by Genzyme, a day full of science experiments in WIT and has been an annual event for the last 10 years. During the day we solved the case of the Poisoned Professor, saw some deadly pathogens, learned CPR, enjoyed the relaxation room and finished a quiz on famous scientists. An absolutely fabulous day for many future scientists.

Our Class Proclamation
Just like Pádraig Pearse wrote 100 years ago, together we wrote our hopes for the future of Ireland.
POBLACHT NA H-ÉIREANN
THE PEOPLE OF IRELAND
IRISHMEN, IRISHWOMEN, IRISH CHILDREN AND REFUGEES WHO HAVE CHOSEN TO MAKE IRELAND THEIR HOME: In the name of Gods and generations of past, present and future, I hereby summon you on the 15th of march 2016 to gather around the irish flag at every school. We want to gather to celebrate freedom – justice, peace and equality. We want to gather to start a dialogue, to help the poor and the homeless, and to keep our history and traditions alive.
We want to involve all Irish people living both here and abroad. We want the Irish peacekeepers, the GAA and all charities to continue the great work they are doing. We want all Irish people to stand together, including the diaspora. If you were born in Ireland, we care about you. If you are a tourist and something happens, we care about you.
As we stand together we want to be a full Ireland, with 32 counties on the island together. We want to help the refugees, the poor and the homeless; not to go against them. We want people to be healthy and to have clean clothes. We want equality, for everyone to be on the same level and nobody better than anyone else.
As regards voting, we want a vote for every Irishman and Irishwomen, wherever they live. We want refugees to have a vote after they have lived here a few years. We want to continue Irish traditions such as Irish music and dancing, GAA and Irish language. Finally, we want all foreign citizens living in our country to try our traditions to make sure they live on.
We hope for our country’s future that we recognise that women and men are equal. Realise that no matter your religion, skin colour or sexual preference you should be treated equally. People need to realise that we are all the same and we all have feelings.
We place the cause of the Irish republic under the protection of the government, elected by the people. We hope that in the future, everyone will speak and listen to each other, and not speak out of turn. We want to help the homeless and flood victims, and to eliminate abuse on both humans and animals.
Signed:

Our Students Council elections
We're setting up a students' council in school, and every class from 3rd-6th class gets one representative. 8 girls in the class were interested, so each girl had to give a short campaign speech, outlining what they would do if they got the position, and why everyone should vote for them. Every girl in the class then voted in a secret ballot. There were two spoilt votes. Isobel is our class representative, after receiving the most number 1's.
Our "Civil debate"
On Thursday, January 21st we held our first "civil debate", our class against Ms Vereker's. The topic for the debate was "Ireland should take more refugees." Both teams were excellent, and the 6th and 5th classes really enjoyed it.
Red Kettle
Red Kettle arrived on January 18th and we were all excited. Well done to Jade, Toto, Sarah, Molly Mai, Opeoluwa, Leah and Kayleigh Ann for taking part in the play.
Our trip to Winterval
On Friday 18th December we walked down to town for Winterval. First we took a trip in the horse drawn carriage, then we sang at the Singing Tree. Finally, we went to hang our decorations on the Cartamundi Giving Tree. Beat 102-103 were broadcasting from there so we spoke and cheered on the radio and got our faces painted.
Christmas is coming!
You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch
You’re a mean one, Mr Grinch,
You’re as friendly as a bear
your heart is black as coal,
You’re as pretty as a pirate-ship,
Your birthday is on Hallowe’en
your voice sounds like a cat in water
you’re a rat with a Santa hat
You’re a mean one, Mr. Grinch
You’re as cuddly as a hedgehog,
your heart is a sour lemon
You’re dirty like an unwashed car
You smell like skunk spray
Your belly is as big as Russia
You’re a mean one, Mr. Grinch,
You’re as kind as a jellyfish
You’re as pretty as a skunk, as beautiful as Monday morning
Your soul is as dark as the night
you’re a runny nose with green splat of snot
You’re a venomous snake

Our next debate is against Mount Sion on November 24th with the motion "There should be an hour of exercise in school every day"
Still life in the style of Carolee Clark
This week's art was in the style of Carolee Clark - contemporary abstracted still life! This involved observational drawing first, then crazy, imaginative painting after.

We got a free delivery of the Irish Times on November 5th so what better way to use them than during DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) time :)
Our life stories
At the moment we're writing our life stories. At least 6 chapters, it's a lot of hard work! We've been working our way through the writing process, planning, drafting, revising, editing and publishing. It'll all be worth it when we hold the finished product in our hands however!

Peri the Pegasus
Peri is as white as snow and as soft as silk. She is as fluffy as a cloud. her eyes are as blue as the sky.
Whenever she is tired she likes to fly down to an orchard and lie in the shade under the giant oak tree as big as a house. When she gets her energy back she loves to race with other animals.
Peri eats whatever she feels but her favourites are marshmallows as fluffy as clouds, chocolate as rich as the queen and as dark as the night.
Peri loves to help others and can always find the positive side of anything. She is always laughing and having a good time but knows when to be serious. Did I mention she can talk?

Ruff and me
My rabbit-cheetah may be different like everyone but to me he is as fluffy as a sheep. His skin is so light you can see it glow in the night. His bones are as strong as an ox and his eyes are like two chocolate buttons, yummy and nice.
He goes to the field every day. he runs like Usain Bolt. Then he lays on the grass for the sun to shine on him. When he gets home he sits and watches tv. He eats anything edible just like me. He is healthy like fruit and vegetables. Honey is his favourite, with pancakes as well.
I love him to bits. he is loving like your mom and dad, as pretty as a picture hanging from a fixture, and special like you and me.

My lovely dog
My dog's name is Riko. His coat is as black as coal and his eyes are as big as marbles. He is as sweet as sugar and as thick as wool and fluffy like feathers.
He like to play with toys. Riko loves squeaky toys. He has a ball and a sausage shaped toy and they both squeak like a mouse. He also loves going for very long walks. He loves to cuddle beside you and then he looks like a little fluff ball.
Riko eats like a lion. He loves to eat anything, but his favourites are dog treats shaped like bones. he always waits by the table to give him left overs from the meal.
Riko is loving and caring. If you're sad he comes and jumps to make you happy. He is as cute as a baby. He is the best dog in the world.
